About READ

The purpose of READ (Reaching, Educating & Advocating for Dyslexics) is a parent-based advocacy organization committed to supporting students with dyslexia and related disorders, including students with general history of reading and spelling difficulties in GCISD.

 

READ will partner with teachers and administration to create and maintain a comprehensive dyslexia program, including proper identification, progressive remediation, and appropriate accommodations.

 

READ will advocate for every general education teacher to have a solid knowledge base of dyslexia and integrate strategies in classroom application among this population. GCISD’s dyslexic population will graduate with equal success to their traditional  learning peers.
